OUR STORY
Turn On Safe Driving (TOSD), is the evolution of Turn On To Safe Driving. TOTSD was a daily planner and study guide (see pics) in paper form that was part of our then charity, Teens Against Drunk Driving (TADD). We began to educate teens against the dangers of drunk driving in 2003. TADD was formed in 2004 as a 501c3 charity in an effort to supply teens in the driver's education classes of local high schools, a proven and highly endorsed educational tool in an effort to teach safe driving, as well as build quality, responsible, goal oriented, young men and women. From 2003, until 2014, Teens Against Drunk Driving (TADD) undoubtedly saved thousands of lives through the use of the TOTSD free driver's education planner.
Fast forward to 2014. The Turn On To Safe Driving (TOTSD) free educational tool was still going strong in it's paper form. However, in addition to being an educational charity, TADD was made aware of the urgency for victim services. William M. Piecuch, Jr, the Founder and President of TADD, decided to expand the reach of the educational tools, and offer victim services. Mr. Piecuch thought a larger, more far reaching charity would be needed, as the charity was getting calls for victim needs from all over the lower 48 states. Mr. Piecuch decided merge Teens Against Drunk Driving, into a new highway safety organization entitled, Americans United Against Destructive Driving (AUADD). AUADD (http://auadd.org) like TADD, was and is an all-volunteer organization. As such, Mr. Piecuch took on the responsibility to fund the financial needs of both charities since the inception in 2003.
In 2017, LYFT contacted AUADD, in an effort to become partners. LYFT saw the useful and important programs that AUADD offered, and wanted to become part of the formula/solution of highway safety. LYFT brought to AUADD the ability for AUADD to reach victims of destructive driving crimes (we don't call them accidents) throughout the lower 48 states, to get victims of destructive driving crimes, to work, school, doctor appointments etc (for free), Once a victim and their family lost the only vehicle they had in their family to a destructive driving crash. AUADD supplied the rides that LYFT provided, until which time the victim's traffic case can be adjudicated. The first and only victim program of it's kind in the highway safety-charitable industry.
In late 2019 early 2020, it was decided that the Turn On To Safe Driving driver's educational tool, that saved thousands of lives by reaching tens of thousands of teens for nearly 17 years, will be transformed into an app version of the life saving program. The new name for the app is,Turn On Safe Driving (TOSD) The app version will have many more critical features. It will be based on curriculum of every state. It will be in a module form. All of the details haven't been finalized yet, but it will be a one of a kind. It will reach millions of teens every year. It will undoubtedly save tens of thousands of lives every year. In addition, it will not only educate teens against the dangers of destructive driving (and more), it will help to bring quality young men and women into our society each and every year. To accomplish these monumental goals, and continue our journey another 15 years at a time, we will need partners. Just like LYFT, we are looking for strategic partners. Please scroll down to see other aspects of our planned app. And how to become involved in our life or death journey. A charter journey.
